Zoe Saldana, born June 19, 1978, was the daughter of Asalia Nazario along with Aridio Saldana. Her mother and father were both born in Puerto Rico. She was raised in Queens, New York. As she reached the age of 10 years old, she and her parents moved to Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe discovered a keen interest in performing dances while living abroad. She started training in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in order to master ballet and a variety of other dance styles. The training she received was not just a wonderful way to exercise an eager child, but was also the ideal preparation for her future acting career as a professional. Zoe and her family emigrated to in the United States with Zoe at 17. Her interest in the arts of dance and theater increased.
