Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US. She is a Greek-American author, syndicated columnist as well as a businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, television personality, philanthropist and also the proprietor and editor of The Huffington Post. Following her move from Greece to England from Greece at the age of 16 and obtaining an MA in Economics at Cambridge University. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president in the prestigious debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the position. She became a syndicated conservative writer following her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online voice platform that offered criticisms on politics. Her fame helped to attract several prominent contributors to share their opinions on the news political, culture and politics. Arianna first gained notoriety in 2003 as she stood in California's recall vote, replacing then Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of a Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as the most influential woman in media in the year 2009. Her ranking was 12th on the listing. The Guardian also included her on the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. Then she was appointed the President of the AOL media group. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. Though she was close with her father, it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her entire life. She displayed leadership qualities even in her early years. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college in which she became the third female to hold the position of the president. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. Following her degree she worked as a journalist-critic and a host on TV. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
