Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet, is a television personality, author, and charitable donor. Her birthplace was in Greece and relocated to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA of Economics. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president in the famous debate group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the position. She became a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years later, she developed an online voice platform that offered criticisms on politics. Her popularity enabled her to get a variety of stars to voice their views on current events, culture and politics. Arianna became famous in 2003, when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of the Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as the most influential female media personality, taking the 12th position on their list and in the same year the Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. named her president of their media group in 2011 following the purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included additional AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother that has shaped her. As a child, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. At the age of sixteen, she left America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university, she belonged to Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president and only president from outside the country. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, as well as a columnist following her graduation. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance for editing.
